Squeezing a family of 5 or more in one tiny hotel room is NOT. IT. But paying full price for a second room isn’t either. I’ve got some amazing news for you—enter the Hyatt Family Rate Plan. This is your way to a family vacation with all the benefits of a hotel without the extra price.
(ok – actually, I’m going to freeze. Let’s be honest. I’d rather squeeze into a small hotel room and only pay for one room, versus paying for a second room. Unfortunately, in Europe and other places across the globe there are STRICT rules that make this absolutely not an option. Here’s how to make lemonade out of lemons).
What is the Hyatt Family Rate Plan?
When you book a room with this plan, you get the option to book a second room at half the regular rate. That’s right, 50% off!
Not all Hyatt’s participate in this rate plan, so call ahead to check the availability wherever you stay. While you’re at it, book the rooms over a phone call as well. It’s the easiest and most reassuring way to guarantee your future stay!
Some things to remember:
While we are at it – here are my absolute favorite options for earning Hyatt points:
The World of Hyatt Credit Card – In my opinion, this card is a KEEPER card. The annual free night perk (for category 1-4 Hyatt properties), is well worth the annual fee. I plan to keep this card in my wallet for years to come.
The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card – If you own a business and you travel a fair amount, this card could be a great option for you! In my opinion, one of the best perks about this card is its ability to help you work towards Hyatt status. This Hyatt Business card will give you automatic Discoverist status, but the real perk is that it will help you earn elite night credits through your spending on this card. That’s right – Globalist Status – here you come!
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (Hyatt is a travel partner of Chase Bank) – If I had to choose any one card to keep in my wallet, the Sapphire Preferred would be it. Hands down. Zero question. First of all, I value the travel partners more than any other bank. With some travel partners including Hyatt, Southwest, Flying Blue, and United, it typically works in your favor to put spending on this card and then transfer your points over to a travel partner, versus putting all of your spending on a cobranded credit card.
Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (Hyatt is a travel partner of Chase Bank) – Much like the Sapphire Preferred, I’d typically recommend that you put your business spending on a card such as the Ink Preferred. This allows you so much flexibility when utilizing travel partners to book those dream trips.
Hyatt is my favorite hotel chain as it gives HUGE value for its points redemptions. Because Hyatt is not a travel partner of any other bank, flexible earning Chase credit cards will always be my favorite points to accumulate!
The Hyatt Family Rate Plan is ALWAYS worth a try. The extra room allows us to not hide under our sheets on our phones at 8pm and provides a little extra space (and sanity) all around. If you can relate to that, you’re in the right place. 😉
