The greatest way to get EVEN MORE VALUE from your credit card rewards points is to take advantage of bank transfer bonuses. A transfer bonus typically occurs when you take flexible points such as Chase Ultimate Rewards®, Capital One Venture Miles, American Express Membership Rewards®, or Citi ThankYou® Points and transfer them to a travel partner. At times, an airline or hotel partner will tack on a limited time bonus – for example, if you transfer 100,000 flexible points, the bonus will magically give you 150,000 points in a specific travel partners travel currency.
We recently took advantage of a American Express Membership Rewards transfer bonus and received a 30% boost when transferring our Membership Rewards points to Iberia (to book Business class flights for our entire family to Vienna Summer 2025! We never would’ve splurged without it!)

I often get asked if you KNOW you’ll be flying somewhere where there is a current transfer bonus, should you go ahead and transfer the points. That is up to you! Just know that once you transfer the points to a travel partner, they are stuck there forever, so you really NEED to make sure that you will use them before you transfer them! Transfer bonuses are another way to make those points stretchhhh, which I love so much.
