Chase and DoorDash: Perks You Need to Know About!

back to the blog

Chase and DoorDash

You might not know this, but there are many perks and benefits to be gained when you combine Chase and DoorDash. Let me explain them below!

Free DashPass Membership

Until the end of 2027, you can enjoy a free DashPass membership which usually costs $9.99 a month with a Chase credit card you might already have in your wallet. When members have DashPass, they typically save $4-5 dollars per order on fees!

Chase and DoorDash perk!

What is DoorDash?

Before I explain more about DashPass, here’s a brief intro on DoorDash (if you already know, feel free to skip to the next paragraph). DoorDash is similar to GrubHub or UberEats and became hugely popular during the pandemic. DoorDash is a meal delivery service. When you order from DoorDash, you can order from many restaurants and your meal will be delivered to your door. In recent years they have expanded their reach. You can now order DoorDash for convenience stores, grocery stores, and even Ulta. The downside is that there are often added fees – delivery fees, service fees, and price mark ups. When we use any of these services, we typically choose the “pickup” option and avoid some of the fees. The “pickup” option isn’t available everywhere. You can access DoorDash online or by downloading the free app.

I get it. What’s DashPass?

DashPass is a monthly subscription. It retails at $9.99 a month ($96 annually) and allows you to avoid the delivery fee on orders over $12. You still have other fees – but this’ll probably save you $4ish on each order.

How Can I Benefit With My Chase Card?

If you hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, this is for you. If you have an activated Sapphire Preferred DashPass membership, you can receive up to $10 off each calendar month at convenience, grocery, or non-restaurant orders through DoorDash. I have been tempted to use my $10 credit at Sephora or Ulta – but in my area, they don’t allow pick up. Instead, I choose to use mine each month at 7-11 because I don’t have to pay the delivery fees. If you don’t feel like exploring your options – let me save you some time – just choose 7-11.

If you hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, this is for you. If you have activated your Sapphire Reserve DashPass membership (keep reading for directions on activating your account!), you can receive up to TWO visits of up to $10 off each calendar month at convenience, grocery, or non-restaurant orders through DoorDash. Additionally, you still will receive your $5 monthly DoorDash credit off of restaurant orders.

If you hold the Chase Freedom Flex®, Chase Freedom Unlimited® or Slate credit cards, this is for you. If you have activated your DashPass membership, you can receive up to one visit of up to $10 off per quarter at convenience, grocery, or non-restaurant orders through DoorDash.

Rather than sharing all of the terms and conditions, I’ll share them here.

How Do I Sign Up:

It’s quite easy! To activate, go to the DoorDash website or the DoorDash app and add your eligible Chase card as your default payment method. I added my Sapphire Preferred. Just remember that after the free period ends, you’ll DashPass membership will change over to a paid monthly phone. You’ll want to set an alert to cancel it on your phone before that takes place. See the terms and conditions to know when that will be for your specific card!

We’ve used our $10 DashPass promo benefit for road trip snacks, Ben & Jerry’s date nights, and have even stocked up on snacks before heading to the movies. So often, people are deterred from signing up for credit cards that have annual fees. This is just one more reason I am 100% fine paying my annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

Chase and DoorDash: In Closing

I’m not a pro at this but these are my takeaways for taking advantage of this new Chase and DoorDash promo:

  1. Add your applicable card as your preferred payment method in DoorDash.
  2. Read the Terms and Conditions if you have any questions about length of the promo for your specific card.
  3. Set 2 alerts in your phone. Alert 1 – to remind you to use your credit on the applicable months. Alert 2 – to remind you to cancel your DoorDash DashPass before the promo ends.
  4. When in doubt – choose 7-11. I’ve never said that in my life, but there are lots of convenience options in my town, but I prefer to not pay fees. DoorDash DashPass allows me the “pick up” option, where most other options do not.

If you’re paying an annual fee on one of these cards, this is a great way to feel like you’re getting maximum value!

xoxo Amber
