Growing up in South Georgia, we went to Disney World often. Now that I have kids of my own, the nostalgia calls me. The prices – don’t. This weekend I went with a group of friends to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We even stayed ON PROPERTY for HALF of the typical price. Here’s how to save money with Disney Vacation Club:
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a Disney owned timeshare program. It allows its members to purchase points to use on-site at Disney resorts.
Now – according to my friend Dave Ramsey – time shares aren’t worth it. They provide little investment value and have costly fees.
BUT here’s how you benefit. You can “rent” these timeshare stays for significantly less than booking the same property directly through Disney.
This weekend, I stayed in The Grand Floridian with 3 friends. The cash rate (if we had booked through Disney) was $2,638, for the 3 night stay. Instead, we paid $1,168.50. It seems too good to be true. It isn’t.
We booked with Pixie Point Gals. They are a mother and daughter duo and personal friends. I asked them for a code for our community and they obliged. Use code: AMBERONPOINTS for an extra $50 off an already huge savings, when you stay 3+ nights.
As you remember, you are renting timeshare bookings. You can do this in 2 ways. You can rent timeshare bookings that my friends at Pixie Point Gals (Don’t forget to use code: AMBERONPOINTS for an extra $50 off a 3+ night stay!) have already reserved and are available. If you’ve got flexible dates – you’re in luck!!
Or, you can request a reservation. Then, they act as a broker and match you with an owner and help you make your reservation.
Disney World is absolutely massive. Traveling between Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom takes time. Booking through DVC is an easy way to enjoy the perks of staying on property, with less of the price tag!
Some of the most popular places to use DVC points are Disney’s Aulani in Ko Olina, Boardwalk Resort, Vero Beach, Saratoga Springs, Beach Club Resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and more. Aulani on Oahu has definitely been on my bucket list for a few years and I just assumed it was off the table.
When it all comes down to it – I love that I now have the option to save money and also support such an awesome team of ladies.
For my overachievers – you cannnnnn. When you book through Pixie Point Gals using your Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, (compare the two cards here) the purchase will categorize as “Travel”. You can then go into your Capital One account and “Cover Your Purchase” with any miles that you have accumulated. You have up to 90 days from the purchase date to reimburse yourself for the purchase.
And that’s how you can save money with Disney Vacation Club. Follow me on Instagram @amberonpoints for more tips!
